by WandaBazoom, 3 years agoI signed up specifically to review this add-on as it has not been working correctly for several weeks now and the recent spat of 5 star reviews is suspicious to say the least.
Firstly - this is a great add-on WHEN IT WORKS. You can download YT videos up to 720p fuss-free, that's fantastic.
Now, for the past few weeks the add-on has constantly failed to work, 1 time out of 20 you might be able to refresh the page and it will work but looking at the reviews here over the past few weeks it seems that the plugin fails for everyone but paying subscribers.
If this is a change the author has implemented they have yet to comment on it. If this is due to another of YT's own backend changes that periodically break this and other plugins, then we just have to wait for the author to fix the problem. That's fine and they have consistently done just that for years now, for which I am very grateful. However as long as they stay silent, we don't know if this is by their design or not and that is why they have received so many bad reviews here recently.
Open and honest communication is always the best policy, then there's no need for carpet-bombing with fake bot 5 star reviews to drown out the genuine reviews.

- This page says the "Access your data for all websites" permission is optional, but after installing it, it was enabled by default?? This is really suspicious setup, whether intentionally or not. I don't need a downloader to read everything I do outside of YouTube.
Anyways, i personally found out i always go to a specific website out of habit, hence never using this extension, so no point for me keeping it - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13655286, 2 days agoEasy and quick for my simple requirements. Seems more consistent than Downloader for some reason.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14836028, 2 days agoThis tool is a.maz.ing, it can help you make great ''mp3player'' files, or you can save whichever podcast or program, whatever video, here on youtube ofc and can make yourself various playlists for ''net-down'' times, even if it happens on your phone after transferring the mp3files, which I primarly do mp3@256Kbps bitrate, in all perspectives a great tool for sure net-down moments, like walking, running, going to the city or another place with train i.e. where net-down is a must at least here in SLO in remote regions. FIVE Stars without hesitation!

Found this extension after 'Video Download Helper' failed to recognize ANY Youtube video. I will be more than happy to contribute $ to further the developer's cause.

It adds a really obvious download button right alongside youtubes interactions buttons.
Supports downloading in a variety of formats, including ripping the audio out of the video file - very useful for me who was after old BBC Radio 4 transmissions that have been pulled by BBC, even though i've paid a license fee for 35 years!
