posted 7 years agoHello,
I've released new version 6.6 that should better inform about errors.
Also I fixed some issues with import. But if it still doesn't work, please send me the file you are trying to import and I'm sure I can fix it in several hours.
I hope this helps :)
Have a nice day,
Best regards,

Replaced abandoned and buggy Yandex Visual Bookmarks and I'm happy. - Rated 5 out of 5by CyberAqyn, 7 years agoI've been using it since SpeedDial stopped working after Firefox went Quantum. And this addon still remains the only good replacement for it. The problem with this one - when the browser starts sometimes there are no dials (no group), and I have to press new tab for them to appear. It also can't stay at the same group in a new tab (it switches to the first group), and most important, you can't save group as HTML. That cloud synchronization is of no importance for me - I don't reinstall browser too often. It is better to have HTML option - to open in other browsers or casual computers. But I still rate it 5 stars - it is the best of all of that kind. I tried its rival Russian-made FVD - and there is big difference - this addon is made for users by a real enthusiast and not for profit by all costs as the FVD.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 11898926, 7 years agoI'm using this to replace the old Speed Dial one since it is no longer supported, and it seems some of the functionality from Speed Dial is not implemented in this 'upgrade'. 5 stars if I can get back the ability to use ctrl+1 etc to open a speed dial though, as it seems to be a good program

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13465881, 7 years agoNice. But one detail is annoying: I would like to access some local HTML files via dials. Unfortunately there seems to be no way of doing this (in any case, pasting the "file://..." address from Firefox's address bar into the dial parameter dialog does not give the desired result. Could this be added?

posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm really sorry but Firefox now blocks all links to local files in any page (not just in my add-on) for a security reasons. In Chrome is the situation same, although in there user can enable it for specific add-on.
I hope Firefox will choose similar approach so that people can enable files access for specific add-on. But I have no idea when this can be done...

posted 7 years agoHello,
There is a good chance that your Firefox has broken database support. This happens in some rare cases usually on very old Firefox profiles or for users that downgraded from Firefox 57.
To validate that you can visit this demo page:
http://mdn.github.io/to-do-notifications/
This page is using same database technology as my add-on. Check the log text in bottom left corner - if you see there "Error loading database" then your Firefox has indeed broken database.
What should help is Firefox reset feature:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings
Resetting profile will preserve your passwords, bookmarks and other important things.
I hope this helps.
Have a nice day :) - Rated 4 out of 5by dna2, 7 years agov6.4 fails to generate thumbnails on Nightly with privacy.resistFingerprinting=true. The thumbnail seems to be created correctly and then just blanks in a couple of seconds. Turning the setting off solves the issue, but switching it back and forth every time I add a dial is kinda annoying.
Other than that, everything seems to work as expected. I'm almost happy with this addon. Almost :)Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for pointing this out. I will create a bugreport for Firefox because this security option will totally break any image manipulation my add-on is performing :(
They should fix it without issues because using canvas inside add-on is no security/privacy risk at all.
Thank again and have a nice day :)

For me the first choice as a replacement for SpeedDial ........ actually!
My problem, it is unsuitable as a start page if syncronized Firefox with other computers. On all computers the extension has a different address ...
Eg moz-extension: //ff257a8c-77fa-4ca1-81a5-............/dial.html = Computer 1
Computer 2 is actually assigned another, eg moz-extension: //c229cd13-7104-7c45-a0da-............/dial.html.
However, Firefox-Sync sets all computers to one address as Startpage, which means you have to reconfig the home page on other computers.
But then you can do the same again on the next computer. An eternal cycle. A static moz-extension address would be appropriate
Update:
Thanks,
Simple and effective solution
The wide is often so close ^^

posted 7 years agoHello,
Yes, I've reported this issue to Firefox a while ago:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1412083
What should help is this:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1042021
Excluding homepage from synchronization.
Have a nice day :)
