posted 7 years agoHello,
That's just impossible :)
But you can probably export the old ones and import them into Group Speed Dial.
See fro example here:

I hope this helps!
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by jsehgal, 7 years agoI really like this add-on to FireFox. I have grouped a few hundred bookmarks into a a few pages and they look pretty and are very useful. I use the Pro version which has upload and download buttons to save the dials on the cloud. The dials on the two computers I have can be synchronized at will. Having all the dials in the cloud makes local backups redundant. Besides they are accessible everywhere.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Gallager, 7 years agoЕдинственная достаточно полноценная замена настоящему Speed Dial, который с Firefox 57 не совместим.
Главное, спокойно восстановил все диалы из сохранённой копии SD Backups, а их около 500 в 23 группах.
Дополнение от марта 2020 года.
Несколько месяцев назад заработало нормально расширение Group Speed Dial в хромообразных браузерах, причём бэкап из Firefox полностью воспроизвёлся SlimJet и в Comodo Dragon, что весьма порадовало - Rated 5 out of 5by Pbryanw, 7 years agoVery helpful developer who responds quickly to help requests and is quick to fix issues with their extension. Also, very good add-on that's quickly becoming more fully-featured, and is (imo) the best speed dial extension for Firefox 57+.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Ksec, 7 years agoI have a few dozen of website and this add on allow me to group them into "Dials" and open them with one click. Saving me lots of right click and open in Tabs action. However there is just a few things,
1. Open Dial ( Replace Current ) - This needs an option to have it hidden. Because Replace Current actually delete EVERY tab you have right now. And Undo Close tab wont help. I am a heavy tab user and this features had me lost 140 Tabs with no way to trace them back. Or at least have an confirmation window before doing so. Personally I want an option to hide it, or heck hide it as Default!.
2. Sane Default - I think the Dials being 1:1 proportion, using Top Site as initial Dial, or have default Group as Top Site, dial name at the bottom with default Thumbnail size the same as Top Site. etc. ( Inline with the current theme of Top Site in Firefox )
3. And Small things is Option should be a separate Tab or Pages instead of all the way at the bottom of Add-On. Huge Discovery problem.
Apart from those I think it is a generally very good add on. Thx for the work.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm really sorry to hear that you lost your tabs, I know the feeling, I have many tabs opened in several Firefox windows and closing them would be disaster!
Anyway soon I will implement fully customize-able context menus so you will be able to remove / add and change shortcuts for items in context menu (and I will hide the dangerous one by default).
2) I'm not sure what you mean here... Are you talking about the fixed ratio for dials? And what do you mean by "Top Site"?
Regarding dial name at bottom, there is a basic support for this in the Options page (but it doesnt look that good, I will need to play with it a bit more when I have more time).
3) You are right, options page in the bottom is super annoying. I will put it into separate page (this is planned right after I finish the current auto-reload feature and translations support).
Thank you for your input! You are helping me make my add-on better :).
I can implement it all, just be patient, I'm quite busy these days :).
If you have more ideas, feel free to write me to my support e-mail.
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by Emilio, 7 years agoGood replacement for Josep del Rio's version, but the feature I miss the most is the keyboard shortcuts. I used to be able to hit ctrl1-5 for speeddial options 1-5 from anywhere in the browser. Would like to see that added but other than that it's very close to del Rio's.
- Rated 5 out of 5by vee, 7 years agoI used to use Speed Dial by Josep del Rio, it is still the best in my mind but there is none like that in Chrome.
Then I tried FVD. It is good but so lagging, slow down my browser and have few limitation of dials (have to pay for more).
Now, I tried Group Speed Dial and it works very well. I can also have the same dials in Chrome.
Thank you.
However the pro options is very interesting.
More suggestion:
- Have some options to customize the size of screen shot in case that I have many many dials in a single group, the dials will be so small and screen shot looks bad. If I can capture the screenshot for example: 800x600 and automatically resize to match the dial size will be very good.
- In Speed Dial have schedule to generate new screen shot for example every hour, day.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for the nice words!
Regarding your suggestions, I'm working for several weeks now on the auto-reload and advanced thumbnails generation that should enable higher resolutions. It should be finished in next few days (I'm already behind schedule so wish me luck :)).
Have a nice day and enjoy the weekend :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by jmy, 7 years agoI think that this is an excellent speed dial, probably the best available on firefox at this time. My main issue though is the very limited number of dials - I would hope that this would be greatly expanded in the future to maybe 90 or 100 dials.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Actually you can have up to 400 dials (20 x 20) in one group now. Just right click the group name (upper left corner) and click "Edit group" and change number of row / columns.
Also you can create several groups and organize your dials into tree-like structure.
I hope this helps.
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Edvardsen, 7 years agoThis is the best speed dial add-on that's out there now supporting all versions of Firefox!!! And the developer is really a helpful dude!
- Rated 5 out of 5by natassja, 7 years agoImport from Speed Dial [FVD] worked flawlessly. Took a few mins to figure out thumbnail sizing (scaling/ratio stuff), but once figured out, I could set things to resemble what I've been used to for years.
Coming from SD [FVD] I still wish the addon would allow scrolling without forcing users to obey max amount of dials per one group screen without affecting size. But I'm satisfied with this addon nevertheless.
Thanks for your work Juraj! - Rated 5 out of 5by Yury Finkel, 7 years agoOn slow computers with white color theme firstly appears black screen, then appears white background. This blinking is annoying.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Yes you are right. I've noticed this as well but I was not able to find a solution that time - either it would blink white for users with black theme or vice versa...
However I have some new ideas now so I will try to improve it again. Wish me luck :)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by Flapu, 7 years agoThis is great addon and replacement for SpeedDial i used pre-version 57. It needs a little more customization. I would like to see more options for custom tile backgrounds - positioning, background colors etc. like it was in SpeedDial.
Keep up the good work.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Don't worry! More options for customization is coming.
Currently I'm working on improving thumbnails generation and auto-reload feature.
Just give me few more weeks and everything important will come :)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by djpixelman, 7 years agoAm I the only one who can't drag and drop the panels from one location/Group to another? Windows 10, Firefox 57.ob8(64bit). It just opens the page in the panel when I left click and drag. The panel won't reposition at all. If this were working then this would be a superb replacement for SpeedDial.
Later:
Hi Juraj.
No, I can't even move a dial within a group..it just opens the website immediately, in the dial..it won't let me move it or reposition it anywhere,,even within the same group.
Ahhh..OK..I see that have the Super-Speed Navigator checked! Now it works perfectly. Amended star rating to 5*.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
If I understand you correctly, you want to move some dials between groups, right? You can do that, just drag the dial over the group name and when the group opens, just drop it on one of the dials in the opened group.
You can actually see that in my introduction video:

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Registrierter Benutzer, 7 years agoas a previous user of uworks SD i really appreciate this extension although i created dials from scratch. i found GSD in chrome store and it installed in chromium longer ago.
for FVD i can only say - it contains the option to show ads and they made speed dial 1+2 disappear in chrome store, i do not honor this behavior. and their backups and not compatible to anything - id took me hours to adjust dials for import in GSD (for a good friend of mine)
i was asked about opening dials in a private window - please add this option if possible.
btw GSD wont work in firefox 56.
overall rating is 5*, donating is welcome although i dont use to sync online.
PS afaik FVD is working on a WE, i dont care!
Cheers.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I like the idea with the private window, I can do that soon.
Later there will be also option to always open specific dials in new private window. Just give me several days :)
There is many new features coming and I'm super excited about them!
Thank you again, if you have more ideas or find a bug, feel free to write me to my support e-mail.
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13292597, 7 years agoSince FVD is dead for FF57(yet), it's a good, lightweight alternative with frequent updates.
I wished the pro version to be cheaper or donation-like, but well, Dev has to live :)Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm trying to bring as much features to the free version as possible.
However each month I have to pay for renting my cloud server that is used for synchronization between devices (including those with free version).
The Pro version features (thumbnails synchronization) requires additional resources on my server and I would have to pay much much more to give it to everybody. Right now one sold lifetime Pro license covers only part of my monthly renting costs :).
And also I'm developing this add-on for 11 months now (roughly more than 1000 hours of work).
But if I manage to establish some solid income from donations and enterprise sector I should be able to rent better server and give all Pro features for everybody. Wish me luck :)
Have a nice day :)

I can not set : "about:debugging" because it becomes "http://about:debugging" which is not good.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm really sorry, but navigating to internal pages (like about:addons) or files on disk or other extensions pages is not possible anymore due to web-extension API restrictions.
See the note at the end of this page:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox/The_about_protocol
I will put info about this into the description.
Have a nice day :)

- Rated 5 out of 5by Shadoware , 7 years agoThis addon is the best dial I already used.
I just would like it to have an option to never update dials screenshots, because the image is useful to fast find what Im looking for, so its good to have some screenshots fixed!Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
That's a great idea. I will totally implement that. Maybe I manage to include this into upcoming auto-reload feature upgrade...
Thank you!
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Hagenss, 7 years agoExcellent replacement SpeeldDial for FF 58+, with a lot of color settings, the distance tabs. It works very fast. Very convenient and modern. It is possible for two or three people on the same browser not to change profiles of settings, but simply install this extension with visual tabs.
