- Rated 3 out of 5by D.Millings, 7 years agoAs speed dials go, this strikes a fair balance between features and bloat -- though a few more customization options to the look-and-feel would not go amiss.
That said, "fast" is isn't. Frequently it can take several seconds to load into a new tab (5-12) while others it is of an acceptable speed. As this should simply load small, internally saved files for the dial faces, this pause is hard to explain as no other speed-dial variant I've tested has had it.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I can almost guarantee you there is something wrong with your Firefox :). Or maybe just some strange incompatibility with some of the other add-ons you use if you are still running Firefox 56 (next Firefox version 57 should fix this).
Anyway, New tab page must be loaded way below one second on every PC. I'm focusing on speed in all of my add-ons so this is just impossible :)
What should help you is "Reset Firefox" feature:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings
Hope this helps, feel free to write me to my support e-mail if you have more issues :)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13339584, 7 years agoWhen I enable the super drag, the dial and group can not be changed by dragging on the home page.
---
When I enable this feature, you can not change the dialing position by dragging the dialing on the home page, and you can not transfer the dial to other groups.
Turn off the super drag and drop function, everything is normal.
The drag-and-drop feature comes from Firefox -UC-FeiRuoMouse.uc.js.
Presumably this problem may also exist in other extensions with the "Super Drag" function, or it may not. If I remember correctly, UC permissions are relatively high.
This is a very convenient extension, really hope that after you can increase the search bar, allowing users to add their favorite search engine.
----
当我启用超级拖拽这个功能时,就不能通过在首页以鼠标拖动拨号的形式来改变拨号的位置,也不能把拨号转移到其它分组中。
关闭超级拖拽功能后,一切正常。
使用的拖拽功能来自于火狐-UC-FeiRuoMouse.uc.js。
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm not sure I understand but all incompatibilities between add-ons should be fixed once Firefox 57 is released (about month from now).
I will add "Search bar" feature to my todo list :), however there is issue with Firefox - when you open new tab page, focus is always in address bar and my dials page cannot take it. (hopefully this will change in new Firefox versions...)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by mint user, 7 years agoThank you for a such nice add on, it's a decent substitute for a Josep del Rio speed dial I have been looking for long time.
One suggestion; would be great if "refresh by visiting page" would work with single button on a whole group of dials, now I need to click one by one dial, and I have hundreds of them. Without "refresh by visiting" image quality is poor and look ugly and grisly.
One problem, it works great in chromium (mint 18.2.) but when I want to import speed dial to firefox it says Error: { }
Group speed dial version is 5.5. Solution to this is a bit awkward, first import "Josep del Rio speed dial settings" into chromium, then export "group speed dial settings" from chromium to firefox.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for the nice words :)
Regarding refreshing thumbnails, currently resolution of thumbnail is determined by the target dial dimensions when you create it - so if your browser window is not maximized when you reload thumbnail, you don't get optimal resolution. This should get fixed by upcoming big upgrade with auto-reload feature.
However after that I suppose I can still add "Reload by visit for group" feature, so stay tuned :)
Regarding the issue with import, I just fixed one bug there so please try again with current version 5.6.
If it won't help, please send me your backup file to my support e-mail and I will try to fix it.
Hope this helps :)
Have a nice day!

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by super6plx, 7 years agoEdit: few years late but just noting here that he added an extension to do ctrl + number shortcuts to open dials in new tabs and current tabs etc. so this is now a perfect addon. 5 stars no requests no complaints just does it all. there is a bug at the moment which is why I'm here again but on his github he has noted that he's fixed it already and is just waiting for firefox to push the update.
original review below:
Looks great, but just missing one thing that I desperately need, keyboard shortcuts! If I press Ctrl + 1 I want to go to my first tab in the speed dial. As if I'd want to keep that default "go to first tab" behaviour.. like what do they expect me to count all my tabs, then type Ctrl + 23 to go to tab #23? who thought of that feature? Let me replace it with shortcuts for your speed dial!

when we try to import from Speed Dial by Josep del Rio, using any of the many .speeddial files that were retained. Can you help? Thanks.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Import should really work without any issues, make sure to watch my short import tutorial video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qGPxWgazJk
If you follow the instruction there and still have issues, could you please send me the file you are trying to import to my support email and I will have a look and fix it. Thank you.

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Pincho, 7 years agoThis add-on is a really good replacement for Fast Dial, which will die when FF 57 arrives.
Still some small things here and there that need to be changed/fixed, but the dev replied to me instantly and got rid of all my worries. This will keep getting even better with time.
Great add-on and developer. Danke!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13318720, 7 years agoLooks like what I need with new Firefox's extensions policy, but it not works :( I see only blank screen with a menu on top right corner. And this message:

posted 7 years agoHello,
I'm trying to solve this issue for several days now. Seems like this is a rare Firefox bug with internal database that occurs for some users usually with very old Firefox profile. So far only solution I could find is create new Firefox profile. But don't loose hope, I'm still trying to find a proper solution or better work-around.
I'll let you know once I know more.
I'm really sorry for the inconveniences.
Have a nice day!

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by FireClown, 7 years agoLoving the Addon. Is it possible to implement the feature to add custom thumbnails via URL instead of downloaded files?
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Support for this is partially already there. In the "Edit dial" window there is a "Choose custom thumbnail..." button, if you click it, you can select file from disk but also paste a URL in there. This will download the picture and use it as thumbnail.
However It will be improved in upcoming weeks and you will be able to use custom URL thumbnails in a better more intuitive way :)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by SuperPutte, 7 years agoHands down, this addon is already great. Will look forward to the future options as promised. Suggestion: how about ability to insert own thumbnails with logo's from local drive?
I used to use my own css-userstyle before, but as this will be prohibit from FF57+ on pages like about:newtab, I looked for alternatives. This addon are doing more or less the same as my own.
Nice work !!Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
There already a basic support for custom images. In the "Edit dial" window there is a "Choose custom thumbnail..." button.
However you have to keep in mind not to reload such dial (else it will be lost). Also transparency can be an issue if you later change background (pictures are not stored transparent). These issues will be fixed in upcoming weeks.
If you don't like the style, please let me know what would you like to see instead. I will be adding more visual themes in the future. Actually maybe I can add an option to use custom .css file so that skilled people could use their own styles (I will put this on my todo list).
Anyway feel free to write me to mu support e-mail if you have more questions or ideas :)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 10538580, 7 years agoafter having the speed dials can you make it to move the speed dials?
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello :)
Sure you can, watch my introduction video to see main features, including drag and drop:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvT4w-R8hJU
Just make sure you don't have "Super-speed" feature active, in that case you need to hold "Shift" or "Ctrl" key to drag and drop dials.
Have a nice day :)

posted 5 years agoHello,
You can try to reinstall my add-on (make sure to export your dials to a file first).
I haven't made any changes there for a long time so things should work normally.
Feel free to contact me to my support e-mail if it didn't help (of if it helps).
Also in a near future I will release a big upgrade that will fix some small issues with auto-reload and thumbnails generation.

posted 7 years agoHello,
1) I'm not able to reproduce the first issue. Could you please write me to my support e-mail what exactly did you do?
2) Only if you create an account on:
https://group-speed-dial.fastaddons.com/
you dials will be synchronized to cloud (no other data will be transferred).
Server is hosted at professional cloud service Tilaa.com
And all communication with the server is encrypted.

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13303190, 7 years agoI verified that all mentioned fix/feature works as described. Keep the good work!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12890004, 7 years agoFirstly it will last beyond the Appspocalypse (upgrade to FF 57). Second it is light, simple, fast and stable. Third it is the ONLY contender to replace speed dial 2 Chrome extension. This facilitates migration from lumbering bloated chrome browser.
Thank you! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 1057640, 7 years agoSyncing in Group Speed Dial actually better/easier than FVD Speeddial, however FVD has a slightly more polished look and feel.
**I've since ditched FVD Speed dial for this again. The syncing is just that much better. Also I think the icon/thumbnail settings have improved since I last used this add-on. And after a while, and quite a bit of tweaking, the dials look pretty good. I don't miss FVD at all.
Another thing to consider is the Cloud Dials for use on your phone. This loads so much faster than having FVD installed natively on Firefox for Android. - Rated 5 out of 5by DevilishVicious, 7 years agoGood replacement for Speed Dial by Josep del Rio. Working great so far. Waiting for the "auto-reload thumbnails" function, if possible. Also, it would be nice to have the option to open dials in new tab (foreground and background) by left click. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for the review.
Auto-reload should come in upcoming version in few weeks.
Regarding the opening dials in new tabs - how would you like to make this work? Could you please write me to my support e-mail what exactly do you want to achieve?
I can introduce new setting in Options page or I can extend context menu (currently there is "Open in new tab" (background)) or I can add some icons to dials that can have this kind of behavior...
However even now Firefox supports:
- "Ctrl + left click" to open in new tab (background)
- "middle mouse click" to open new tab (background)
- "Ctrl + Shift + left click" to open in new tab (foreground)
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by Lightbender67, 7 years agoThanks for all your work Juraj. I just started exploring and it looks great. I have been using SuperStart for years with the ability to use folders. I have been searching for a way to share folders or groups so that friends or co-workers can have access to the same group. Please consider this for a future pro feature. It would be worth paying to be able to share site links with teams.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for the review.
Sharing groups will be possible, this feature is already planned (with high priority) for the near future. However there are some other features that needs to be finished before this so it could take month or two to implement.
Also I want to make it perfect so that you can truly collaborate with your colleagues in in one group and all its sub-groups.
So stay tuned :) and wish me luck.
Have a nice day!

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 2 out of 5by Lord of Scripts, 7 years agoI get the impression this will also backup to the cloud my passwords or other sensitive website data. During installation it asks for permission to access ALL data.
Also, I try to add the page to a dial but it shows me a blank page and no option to create a dial group, what's the purpose of all this if it does not work?Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello there :)
As an author of GroupSpeedDial I can guarantee you there are no passwords or any other private data being collected.
In fact, unless you create an account on https://group-speed-dial.fastaddons.com/ there will be no data send to my server at all.
If you create an account, only information about dials you entered (like URL and name) will be synchronized with server.
All this can be verified by anyone using Developer tools in Firefox and checking network messages.
Also all add-ons including this one has to pass automatic and manual tests/reviews done by FIrefox team to avoid malicious add-ons.
Regarding the message about accessing all data - this means that add-on can inject "content script" into some pages - specifically this add-on can inject it only in my "https://*.fastaddons.com/*"" domain, this can be verified in manifest.json file.
I would like to point out that privacy is very important to me and I'm doing my best to protect all users data synchronized to my server. These data will be never accessible to anyone else!
Regarding your issue with the "blank page", could you please write me to my support e-mail your Firefox version and operating system you are using? Add-on should work normally in every OS in every new Firefox version including Nightly.
Have a nice day and weekend :)

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 3 out of 5by MS-DOS, 7 years agoCompared to good old but outdated Speed Dial, this one looks very poor and lacks quite a few features that I need.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Don't worry, I'm adding more and more features as we speak!
There is a "Features coming in near future" section in description that lists some of the features that will come.
I believe this add-on will be a great replacement of good old Josep del Rio's Speed Dial.
If you are missing some particular feature, feel free to write me to my support e-mail. Easy features are implemented immediately, others are planned for next releases.
Have a nice day :)

Juraj Mäsiar- Rated 4 out of 5by NoXPhasma, 7 years agoThis is a great Addon, which will replace Fast Dial for me. But there is still space to improve this Addon by far.
1. Automatically generated Thumbnails are really ugly, because you cannot chose the "Browser Size" on which the thumbnails should be recorded. So you get thumbnails which only show a fraction of a website. Please add this!
*update* found out that refresh by visiting does exactly what I needed.
2. I would like to set the max displayed width of the whole Thumbnails, when I chose to use 4 columns and 12 rows the thumbnails are stretched very strong. Usually I would do it myself with Stylish, but thanks to webext this isn't possible anymore. Please consider to add many more styling options to the Addon, your users will love it, believe me!
Thanks for this Addon, keep on!Developer response
posted 7 years agoHello,
Thank you for the review and good ideas.
1) You are right, there needs to be more options for sizes... I will add some in future versions, currently for "Refresh dial" there is only a "|B|" button next to it (in context menu) that will create even bigger (more zoomed) thumbnail.
2) Yes if you setup 4x12 dials then the stretch will be crazy! I didn't think of this but it's actually a great idea. I will add this soon. Until then you can try to create more groups and maybe increase space between dials...
Thank you for nice ideas, if you have more, feel free to write me on my support e-mail.
Have a nice day!

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 4 out of 5by SorryForMyEN, 8 years agoYou can not hide home/account/option buttons on dial page and there is no numbering of dials and groups, or shortcuts to access them directly. But it is a very beautiful extension and the visual possibilities are diverse with colors gradient. For the future, it would be great to have more style options, such as right-angle corners, active tab of the same color as the active group, navigation between dials/groups by directional keys, backup of dials/settings, and option to do not overwrite default pages (newtab and home).

posted 8 years agoHello,
thank you for the good ideas. I will definitely implement most of them if not all! Some of them are already planned for the next release like the keys shortcuts to make it fully controllable by keyboard. Also more visual options is coming.
Thanks again and have a nice day!

Juraj Mäsiar - Rated 5 out of 5by suijurisdeigratia, 8 years agoI've been an FVD user for years but it was time to switch my dial add-on that is compatible with the new multiprocess functionality in Firefox. Firefox 57 compatibility is also a big plus at this stage in development. This dial add-on has it all. It's smooth, fast, and offers the ability to layer dials which is really nice. The cloud sync is also great and works well. I'm using it in both Firefox and Chrome across multiple windows operating systems (7 and 10). My only suggestion is to add the ability for the Main Group bar at the top to wrap as when I had a huge list of groups it wasn't able to wrap to a new line. Keep up the great work!
