- Rated 4 out of 5by rastus, 9 months agoI posted previously, before I grudgingly switched to the new browser extension instead of the old desktop app browser extension. I had complained about the forced change. I also was hesitant because of my (and others) perception that the new version would be less secure. I am still not convinced about the security - because Nord never would explain why I shouldn't be concerned. You just said, in effect, don't worry about it. No technical explanation or reference to one.
Anyway, with that said, I want to state that this new browser extension works way way way better than the old one. It's consistently reliable. And another advantage is that I don't need to find a Linux version of the NordPass desktop program, which previously was difficult unless you use Ubuntu and don't mind Snap files.
Someone said you still need the desktop program. Well yes and no. If you don't mind opening the browser to get whatever you have stored in NordPass, then you don't have to have it. I use both in Windows but only have the browser extension in Linux, and I have no complaints.
So this is good. Now, if you (Nord) would just provide some technical explanation of how the security works when it's part of the browser - or why I should not be concerned about it. - Rated 4 out of 5by ronp2001, 10 months ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Alex, 10 months agoI had the old extension (now called "desktop app ver.") and it worked just fine until I tried this one. Autofill is not working now on either the old or the new version.
Update: I read other reviews and discovered the incompatibility with DarkReader, so I solved the problem, but one question remains. What is the difference between this and the old app? Why should I download a new extension?
Response to developers: First and foremost, thank you for your prompt response. Secondly, I am not a programmer and had to research to understand what Manifest V3 is, so please forgive my ignorance. I will improve the rating because I appreciate the development efforts.Developer response
posted 10 months agoHi Alex, thank you for the feedback. The difference of the apps is huge in terms of the technology. The new add-on is a stand-alone app which you can use without the desktop app which was not the case previously. Also the new one is built in compliance with the new Manifest v3 requirements which makes add-ons safer, more efficient, and better for your privacy. Unfortunately for developers it means that the add-on must be rebuilt almost from scratch and that's what we did recently. We are sorry for the inconvenience while we tirelessly try to improve the app every day. We believe that the new app if not today then very soon will bring way better experience than the old one. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15207380, 10 months ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Denis, a year agoNordPass, without the Firefox extension needs some work; it occasionally fails to automatically ask me to add a password for a new website that I generate a password for, or keeps offering to generate a password for the website when I am typing in a password. There seems to be a conflict between Mozilla's own password storage (is that connected to Nordpass Password addon?) and Nordpass. Another issue is Nordpass has allowed me to open and pay for two separate Nordpass accounts without telling me that I already have a Nordpass account. I've been with Nordvpn a long time and it works okay when Ubuntu 22.04 Pro opens it from the CLI. But the interface to Firefox seems to have problems at times. Not sure if it because I use cookie and adblockers on Firefox. Doesn't Firefox have its own password vault? Maybe that's the source of the problem I see.
