- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18648834, 2 months agoThe extension is now almost unusable for me. I keep getting this message: "Permission to inject a script was denied on..." It's just frustrating, but not very helpful.
Developer response
posted a month agoSorry for the inconvenience. Previously, when Firefox wouldn't insert the necessary script, it just failed silently. I kept that as an option if you preferred that behavior.
But more generally, Firefox 128 finally allowed injection into most non-Mozilla sites. If you are running an older version, such as the Extended Support Release of Firefox 115, you could consider upgrading if your OS can run Firefox 128 ESR. - Rated 5 out of 5by Steve, 3 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Sorceress Eve, 3 months agoLove this addon, absolute must to avoid webp. The settings are a little confusing, but I did manage to work it out.
Not sure if @Koledaloli looked at the settings or not. But everything they wanted is able to be done in settings, or at least I managed to do it as it too was my prefereed set-up.
The settings I used; imgur.com/a/PiHYM0O - Rated 1 out of 5by Koledaloli, 3 months agoLong frustrated rant incoming.

Wtf, why is this so unnecessarily complex when it comes to reddit comment images ? In fact, I would prefer if when I right click the image and click 'save Webp as PNG', it instantly does exactly just that, instead of this multi-options crap that won't even appear correctly like in this case. Also, the UI for it is very ugly and unprofessional.
Also, don't tell me to right click open in new tab the image. Reddit has this stupid issue when it comes to images inside comments where doing that will lead to a broken link (imgur.com/a/Wa7FDhH). F*ck reddit for automatically converting PNGs into WEBPs.
It's a shame that the entire of Firefox only has this as WEBP-to-PNG extension. I'm specifically having to dual use another Chromium browser just because Chrome extension store has another WEBP-to-PNG extension that does EXACTLY just what simple request I wanted. posted 3 months agoFirst, I didn't realize the button bar was scrunched in a way that makes it unusable on those images. I'll have to investigate.
Second, by default, if you Shift+click the menu item, it bypasses the button bar and saves as PNG. You can change which action occurs on a plain click versus Shift+click in the options. (Another reviewer shared an example of where to change this: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-webp-as-png-or-jpeg/reviews/2120797/ )
I have a couple pending requests to have sub-menus as an alternative to a button bar, since not everyone finds that design attractive, but I haven't found time to work on that. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18597364, 3 months agodoes exactly what it says with a simple additional context menu so i don't have to fight with webps anymore. dev is also way too kind to the ignorant 1 star reviews, deserves 6/5 stars for that alone lol.

- Rated 4 out of 5by SlickStretch, 4 months agoMy only complaint is that I don't like the format/options display. I would really like an option to make the format/options part of the right-click context menu.
- Rated 5 out of 5by The_WhO, 4 months agoBest of best! These shitty websites like webp because hate users, very simple, nice work with transparent images, even can compress image.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Islam Nurmagomedov, 4 months agoTrash, can't retain background transparency of PNG, instead turn into black bg.
Developer response
posted 4 months agoIs this a problem with pasting? Firefox does something weird with the transparent areas of PNGs when pasting. You may need to save those or use a different format. (Bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460969)
If it's a problem with saving, could you share the address of a problem image? You can contact me either at jscher2000@outlook.com or start a new issue thread on https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/issues - Rated 5 out of 5by igorlogius, 5 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by MELISSATITANIUM, 5 months agowonderful addon!!! i like to archive art from my favorite creators & this helps make the process a lot faster for me, and i imagine many others who do similar things.
i've seen other people ask about this, but if you do ever add a feature for single click saving i'd be very excited! it's incredibly generous of you to make this extension, i hope you have a lovely day. - Rated 1 out of 5by AdSpeedupDoesntWork, 5 months agodoesn't work most of the time - I get this: "Permission to inject script was denied"
Developer response
posted 5 months agoI know about two times you could expect to see that: (1) restricted sites like Mozilla sites, and (2) sites that protect themselves from extension scripts using the "sandbox" security policy (#2 was fixed in Firefox 128).
Do you want to share some example URLs by sending them to jscher2000@outlook.com or posting in this thread: https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/issues/30 - Rated 5 out of 5by NBA20, 5 months agoWorks very well but wish those buttons that pop-up were sub-menus in the right click context menu. Would look better in my opinion.
- Rated 5 out of 5by AlwaysThinking, 5 months agopng not working? jpg work just fine. i have tested on this page: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warframe/images/d/d8/KhraRequiemIcon.png and i dont think it's png
Developer response
posted 5 months agoI haven't noticed any problem saving a PNG on images I have tested, but I did notice that when the WebP image is huge/complex, the file can be very large and take a long time to generate/save (JPG 6.7 MB vs. PNG 25.5 MB). If you notice any pattern to the problem, could you let me know at jscher2000@outlook.com or start a new issue at https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/issues/. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18161014, 5 months agorandomly crops images when saving as png. used to work great
Developer response
posted 5 months agoIs the problem on sites where the images zoom within the page? I tried to fix that bug with the version 1.5.2 update. However, I only had one badly behaved site to test on. Could you send me the new problem site(s) at jscher2000@outlook.com or mention them in a new comment under the following issue: https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/issues/10
Or maybe it's a new scenario. Any leads would be helpful. Thanks.
