by Cartoonatic, 4 years agoI've had this add-on for several years, and I considered it useful until it came to light that in the past couple of years it's been marking certain people as anti-trans for supporting nonbinary, intersex, and transmasculine people. I don't know what happened here, but this means that a tool that was once meant to help a vulnerable set of people has now turned into some sort of guessing game as to how reliable it is and is one of the sources for a lot of infighting within the online trans community right now. Not to mention some non-white users have discussed how they've been labeled as transphobic for not fitting the typical standards of white trans people, essentially painting even bigger targets on their backs than they had before.
I rated this two stars instead of one because I've only encountered this issue on Tumblr whereas everywhere else (especially Twitter) it's been accurate. The only reason I still have it is to try and correct some of the falsely flagged ones I see, which is getting agonizingly more difficult due to this extension's definition of who counts as trans friendly becoming more narrow as time goes on.
EDIT: Seeing all the empty accounts here trying to claim this extension still works as intended and that the various transmasculine, nonbinary, intersex, and neopronoun users speaking up about its flaws are wrong has made me bump this down to one star. What a shame for what used to be such a useful add-on.
EDIT 2: If this extension is working as intended (labeling certain users/sites as transphobic), then please enlighten me as to why I've run into multiple wikis about nonbinary and other queer identities labeled as anti-trans. Not one, multiple. None of them are able to be corrected either. I am sorely disappointed.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Cerasum92, 2 days agoPeople have been misusing this extension for so long that is has become completely useless. You have both supporting people, supporting trans people as well as transphobes and transphobic trans people marked as all the wrong colors.
I just saw a blog that calls for supporting all trans people and to stop infighting marked as red. No anti-trans posts at all. This extension has become entirely useless and serves to harm trans people more than help. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18179657, 3 days ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Ämpäri, 5 days agoTotally broken on tumblr. Idk how the ranking with green and red gets rated but it is broken, I trust more on red marked tumblr users than green ones. Every single trans man speaking out their abuse and transphobia and ally gets marked as red aka "bad". I rather support my fellow trans men and allies than transphobic trans people and our "allies".
- Rated 5 out of 5by Ashen, 7 days agothis is an amazing extension if you block every red name that appears when using it and mark transmisogynists as red so other people if your selection gets approved can block them too and if you find a transfeminist who actively talks about transfeminism you can mark them green and hopefully if that gets approved other people will find a cool person who accepts them for them to follow

- Rated 1 out of 5by Chippo, 11 days agoOnce upon a time this was an okay extension. Nowadays it marks pretty much any trans guy as anti-trans even for mild pushback like 'hey don't say horrible things about trans men', and people who say horrible things about trans men - who wish sexual assault upon trans men, who wish harm upon them, who hate trans men entirely and claim them all to be disgusting - are marked as trans-friendly. In practice, it is not a safe app for the 'trans community' just for a specific portion of the community. Specifically, binary trans women who happen to dislike every other identity under the trans umbrella.
I wouldn't even really complain if not for the fact the app claims it marks transphobia generally. That's not what it does. - Rated 5 out of 5by N40r, 13 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by otso, 18 days agoi'm a trans man and i find it really useful in protecting myself from transphobic accounts. the "green" rating is functionally useless, but the "red" rating is very helpful

- Rated 1 out of 5by Raven, 2 months agoThis extension claims to help keep trans people safe, but users of it mark random intersex people red in order to cut them off from community. There are also mental health resources marked red not for trans-related issues at all, but because they are for "controversial" conditions like DID and OSDD.
Signed, a trans woman with OSDD. - Rated 1 out of 5by ANP, 2 months agoI've seem people who post rhetoric that is incredibly intersexist and exorsexist marked green (e.g., arguing that someone who says they are transfem and transmasc are actually just transmasc).
Not to mention any black queer person who dares to be vocal about anti-blackness in the white queer community, gets marked red — regardless of how supportive of trans people they are.
I saw this all the time back when I used the extension on Mastodon. And it's just as bad on Tumblr.
In addition to the above, it's frequently misused on those critical of the use of TMA/TME terms, especially on Tumblr.
Said terms force trans men and enbies to reveal their gender assigned at birth, and ignore the fact that bigots *do not care* if someone is actually a trans woman or not when discriminating against them. "Misdirected" transmisogyny towards a trans man being mistaken for a trans woman can still get him killed just as easily. Yet if said trans man identifies with this term based on real experiences, he is seen as misappropriating it.
The guidelines were very clear on how to label people; green is for people who advocate for trans people. It doesn't require subscribing to a specific subset of ideas within transgender activism.
This extension is arguably worse than useless depending on what sites you're using. If you do use it, do not blindly trust the labels, and do not trust anyone telling you that all criticism of the extension is based in bigotry.
This is a reminder that anyone can submit a label, whether they got angry at someone in a media debate, or meticulously scrolled through someone's profile before deciding how to label them. Do not crowdsource your decision-making. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 20150932, 2 months ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by fjfhdhdhdh, 2 months agoThis used to mark actual transmisogynists and actual transphobes in general as red, now the extension just marks trans people, non-binary people, intersex people, and people of color as red for no reason. If you hate marginalized groups, this is the perfect extension for you. If you really want to see if someone is actually transmisogynistic or not just check their blog instead. Relying on this extension to always be correct is like relying on ChatGPT to always be correct. And for the positive reviews, it's not transphobic nor misogynistic to call out this extension for what it is. Stop watering down words used to describe people's oppresion. It's obvious the users supporting this extension are just TERFs pretending to care about trans rights.
