Useless for non-Windows.Developer response
posted 7 years agoUnfortunately at this moment Native Application is only available for Windows systems, versions for Linux and Mac OS X are under development.
Linux and Mac OS X users still can install old AVD version in Firefox 56 and below from Mozilla website here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/versions/ - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13705351, 7 years agoUsed to be the best video downloader hands down, worked on multiple platforms. Now it only works in windows, no longer works in linux. Completely useless.

i'm sorry for you.
Are you strong enough to push FF developers to develop browsers instead of destroy browsers?
i will use FF 56 and ANT until it is possible, then if FF is not fixed back to a working browser i will switch to another browser.
I think Mozilla is programmig to close business and hey put FF add-ons developer in the mud.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13671966, 7 years agoTook a perfectly good app and turned it into a piece of sh*t.! You used to be able to download just by selecting from a drop down menu, now it opens up a browser window. Also, you used to be able to retain the original file name, can't any more. Finally, it used to save to it's own folder, doesn't any more. Total POS, will be looking for a new extension tomorrow that will work. Don't see the point in wasting any more time on an app that they apparently didn't bother to test before releasing, or didn't give a d*mn if it worked or not.

Possibility to change the destination folder for downloads will be added in one of further AVD releases.

- Rated 2 out of 5by LacAbEla, 7 years agoSince they started to use that installer downloads are incredibly slow (~60 KB/s). Downloading videos at that speed takes way too much time.

Ant sucked for a good, long while, but now it's back as good as it was before. I'll keep using it as long as it works, and if it stops working, my review can - nay, will - be amended.

如果能将优酷那里大的一个视频下载下来的一小段一小段相同文件名的视频,合并成一个文件名的视频就好了。Developer response

We continue to work on new AVD and return it the habitual appearance as much as it possible in new Firefox.- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13643998, 7 years agoThis WAS a very good extension.
Hopefully it will be again--soon.
Currently the thousands of videos that I have downloaded over the years are mostly unavailable. If any future upgrade of this extension doesn't make those old files available again I feel I may as well start from scratch with another extension. I hope it doesn't come to that, though.
The mechanics of one downloader or another aren't really all that important to me--the real value is in those old videos. If they are "gone" I probably will be too.Developer response

I could not download a piece of classical music recorded in 1928. I guess YouTube bought out Ant down loader. Garbage, now.
