- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13636859, 7 years agoI love AVD but now I HATE FIRFUX - these stupid pricks have screwed around with AVD's ability to function so many time already and now they have really buggered things up. The ONLY reason I was using FF in the first place was to have access to AVD. AVD has always been great and now I am going back to an earlier version of FF just so I can keep using it. People who are bitching to Ant - maybe you should be blasting the FF developers instead - they are the pricks who screwed everything up. Oh and TOR browser works with the older version of AVD (not sure about 3.0) so if you want to dump FF, use TOR.

In case of any problems with new AVD 3.0 please contact with details to our support at: https://support.ant.com/hc/en-us/requests/new- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13631722, 7 years agoHi
For many reason I’m running Firefox 52.5.2 32 BIT ESR and I had installed ANT Video downloader 2.4.7.46 or 2.4.7.50 but trying to download files from XNXX.com it look like I receive a lot of part files, but this had not been a problem before. ANT just tell me that I need to install a Media Converter. Click on installation download then ffmpeg.exe and system try to unpack it without any error, but next download shows up with same error / suggestion. Firefox closed down / restarted. System Restarted booth without any help.
I had also tested the last update from FireFox, but then I just feel that ANT need more actions before I can download files. To many options to choose between, and not able to select the place to save the files.
Please tell me what to do for use the old version of FF and ANT.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

posted 7 years agoWe continue to work on migration AVD to a new platform and returning the habitual appearance as much as it possible in new Firefox versions, but it still may not support some features that the old AVD is used to.
You still can install old AVD version in Firefox 56 and below from Mozilla website here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/versions/ - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13629833, 7 years agoHave used it for years, always worked faultlessly, downloaded very efficiently, never had any problems. But now - new version has ruined it. Before you could see and select the different possible downloads wherever you were without leaving the tab. Now it opens in a new tab which completely interrupts everything. A bit like having to stop your car and get out just to put on the indicator. Yes, it's that irritating. Also the downloads would show up in the Firefox download tab, you could monitor progress and see all ongoing, finished or failed downloads that way, very simple, very clear and again with no effect on the current tab. Now nothing there. To continue the car analogy, the dashboard has just been taken away, no speedo, no rev counter or fuel gauge. Feels like a spectacular own goal to me, but it seems to be deliberate. And where do you set the download folder, don't tell me you can't set that any more, but it certainly isn't obvious if you can.
Helpful response from the developer explains that it has had to change because of Firefox so beyond their control. Therefore up-rated to 4* as I guess it is still the best of the available options and hopefully they will find ways to get it back to earlier functionality.Developer response
posted 7 years agoUnfortunately, since Firefox 57 and beyond Mozilla no longer supports XPCOM type of add-ons, such as the old version of AVD.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13604595, 7 years agoFirst of all, all I get is "NO VIDEO DETECTED" no matter where I go.
You used to have an extremely EASY to use, i.e. user friendly, program for downloading just about anything but now...I have NO idea if it is downloading, where it is downloading to IF it is downloading? WTF happened to the easy to use program? And WHERE is it downloading to? ALL I get is A LINK to go right back to the video on YouTube or any other site. WHAT IS GOING ON?No more downloading?
AND WHAT THE HELL IS A NATIVE APPLICATION???? This is just for a desk top. NOT some iphone, or smart phone or laptop.Developer response
posted 7 years agoAVD version 3.0 now provides a Native Application used for communication with browser extension, configuration files and required dependency libraries.

In case of problem with new nwe AVD 3.0 please contact with details to our support at https://support.ant.com/hc/en-us/requests/new - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12181459, 7 years agoIt is easier to save the YouTube link than use this APP. If the app saved the download to a folder on the computer or phone it would make more sense. If you have to be online to use the download I see no use for the app. You Tube has history files to save what you want.

You still can install old AVD version in Firefox 56 and below from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/versions/ - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13608920, 7 years agoI have to agree with most people, before Firefox v.57, this add-on was absolutely amazing. I rarely had any problem with it, and I could always find a work-around if the video I was looking for wasn't able to be downloaded on this add-on. I just had to use another mirror and that's it.
Since Firefox v.57, well, it got knocked-out pretty hard.
It's still managable, but the UI is not as appealing then before. It's hard to figure out which link is what, I happened to download 3 ads instead of the video I wanted... the easiest solution is just download every link and remove the wrong video afterwards, which is kind of not efficient, but it still works. Nevertheless, it's annoying and disappointing. I know you are currently working on making it availiable on other popular browser and you're trying to make some hotfix but Firefox is being a meanie with you and all.
I won't be as harsh as other people because this add-on still work! It's a bit more of a task management... but it works.
If you manage to rebuild the AVD into what it was before, it would deserve it's 5 stars and beyond, until then, I can only afford 3.
You probably already thought this through but maybe starting from scratch? Sometimes it helps.
Best luck for you, hopefully it will rain down 5 stars on this add-on in a near future.

At the moment our main task is to return a support of as many types of streaming video as possible.
Design is the easiest issue here and we will rebuilt it after few successful AVD 3.0 releases

I preferred the drop down list. I also don't like that I cannot tell what most of the things that I see on the new page are now.

Last version was so well done. Simple and easy to use. Can't understand why the change.
It was the best the way it was. Just needed to update if for FF v57.
