- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14159988, 8 years agoVDH works great on Firefox (until FF does some crazy update which breaks all of the add-ons until their developers can scramble to keep up)
Because watching streaming videos or anything worthwhile after banners and flash advertisements load, it is almost impossible to watch YouTube or anything entertaining on Time Warner/Charter/Spectrum's throttled cable network. I download clips to play that my seniors citizens want to watch, as they don't have a lot of time to wait for them to buffer from their crappy internet providers.
Chrome/Google have mandated some stupid stipulation that you have to buy the "premium version" in order for it to exist as their add-on. This limits downloads to two per hour or something equally retarded. Chrome is just OK. But it beats MicroSuck's Internet Exploder and "VEdge" with their tedious "Bung" search engine all to hell which only exist to spy on your surfing habits and shove their never-ending ads in our face.
I've been using Video Download Helper for many years, and the developers support the latest HLS protocols. They will fix it when Firefox does their regular updates and breaks stuff. For free, you can't beat it. Also the companion app is great as long as you don't use it on Chrome (which sucks for this sort of app). I can download multiple clips under 20 minutes in a matter of minutes and share them with everyone at the senior center or nursing home. MIG and the team have provided a much-needed public service!
If you can't get VDH to work on your machine, you need to stop adding those questionable and dubious add-ons, emoticons, toolbars, and crapware or NOTHING will work as intended my MicroSuck. I have Windows 10 Pro 64 and home 32-bit machines (when they were Windoze 7) and have had NO issues with VDH working as intended (which is more than I can say for Windoze after their stupid "creators" downgrade.) I also only run the minimum number of authorized programs so there are no unnecessary conflicts. Thank g*d Flash is finally gone!
So unless you're on a limited income like we are, please consider throwing these guys a bone. They work harder on this app than I feel MicroSuck and Android does when they push their shallow security updates. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13726769, 8 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12925133, 8 years agoThis add-on is 'most excellent', as they used to say 200 years ago. Honestly, if I had the wherewithal I would support them with a donation but I'm old and on a pension, so I can't. I've used it for years and have absolutely no qualms about recommending it to anyone. Cheers people, you're doing good things :-)
- Rated 5 out of 5by nurseriches, 8 years agoWithout a doubt Video DownloadHelper is the finest, most comprehensive screengrabbing software available. Its wide-ranging capture functions are vastly superior to any of the competition, and the creators keep on adding functionality.
Great software, and so incredibly useful and versatile. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12957913, 8 years agoHas it's limitations but still worth the five star giveth. For what can be downloaded
