- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19650803, a month agoThis extension saves me from buffering hell. The only gripe I have is with the documentation for the new Smartnaming method: I am not fluent in regular expressions and the few relevant options mentioned in the guide do not help me when cherry picking specific text on the webpage.
Until further notice I am using legacy mode so I can rely on XPath to search through div classes and specify normalizing white space, yada yada.
Edit: I wrote this hastily earlier with PLANS to use the legacy mode, but it seems to have been removed. Thanks for making me type out the titles. - Rated 3 out of 5by shirman, a month agoLong time user The older version more stable! the new has many bugs. but also love the new abilities! when an issue with a video occurs i wish it would say witch one and not just there was an issue with a download! one of my sights videos i used the older version it worked great for now is a hit and miss on video downloads correctly. almost prefer to go back to last versions but would miss new options! hope things get fixed
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19634104, a month ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Tiago Ferreira, a month agoYeah it's worse after the last update. Both slower downloads and overall worse interface. I will never understand why people update stuff to make it worse. I mean it's still the best downloader out there. It just became worse.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Jim, a month agoGood program, but the newest version made the experience worse for existing users. Settings were reset, an additional download is now required, the naming convention changed, the download folder changed to Firefox's default with no way to change it, and animated media previews are enabled by default & sometimes still show up when they're turned off. There's also a small number of sites this extension doesn't work with, where other video downloaders do seem to work.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Der Frame, a month agoMake it back the way it was before. You could save directly and specify a file name. Now, if you download three files, you first have to check what you've actually downloaded. It's completely ridiculous.
Stop making it worse. It was fine the way it was. Full stop! - Rated 3 out of 5by gmx_add_ons, a month agoThe new download preview feature has made it easier to identify tasks.
This next section contains our requests.
We request that the download quality settings can be fixed/set as a default on the selection screen during download, as was possible in the previous version.
Additionally, we would like to still be able to specify a custom/dedicated download directory, just like in the previous version.
If multiple download files share the same name, we request that consecutive numbering (e.g., "xxx-1.mp4") be appended to the file name, following the order in which the download entries were made, just like in the previous version. If sequential numbering is not possible, we request that the download process strictly follow the order in which the tasks were registered. When file naming is dependent on the browser, the order can become irregular (unpredictable) when multiple download entries are made simultaneously. - Rated 3 out of 5by wang kun, a month agoThe upgrade has made it less functional. Unfortunately, while it was previously possible to assign the window title to the file name, it seems that the file name is now being retrieved from a different location than before, and the file name is not being set correctly. Please fix this.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Booff, a month agoVideo Download Helper was the number 1 extension for downloads but the December automatic update killed the app. I had to download to version 9.5.0.2 and turn off automatic updates. Downloads now work again. Fix the problem with version 10.0.271.2 and I will give you 5 stars again.
- Rated 3 out of 5by lolboop, a month agoV10 removes %pathname from smart naming makes one click saving a multistep operation(not sure if CSS selectors can replace, beyond my current knowledge), not sure why it was removed, you would think basic path names would still be useful.
Back on 9.5 until it's fixed, I find an alternate extension or workout CSS selectors for pathname. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - Rated 3 out of 5by Vanu94, a month agoI had to go in and redo a lot of my preferences after the most recent update. Apparently I'm not the only one annoyed by it. Thankfully I was able to get the new add-on to work as it did. But that I had to take time to do so, with a completely new layout, after a single update is extremely frustrating.
- Rated 3 out of 5by NatanDerBratan, a month agoWorks reasonably well but often has trouble with youtube videos.
- Rated 3 out of 5by bakhman, 2 months agoIt works, but it has become more privacy invasive over time. Requires downloading a lot of random plug-ins.
- Rated 3 out of 5by TheInvoker, 2 months agoCan you update it to the last version?? currently 10.0.271.2

- Rated 3 out of 5by KuleGuy27, 2 months agoVery good extension. Except on Windows, there is a QR code watermark and it asks me to get a 'conversion license'. That wasn't here before, and on LINUX, the QR code doesn't show up. I have high hopes for this extension since it works a ton, but putting a QR code watermark for Windows users is scummy.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Uwe B, 3 months agoThis addon has never been really good, but unfortunately it is indispensable due to the lack of alternatives. With the last update it has become much worse. A proper download in Firefox is no longer possible. The developers are desperate to sell their own addon.
Alternatively, you can just copy the link and open it in the Free Download Manager. This is not comfortable. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18735744, 3 months agoAtt: Paul
Do not pay the $30.00 for "Lifetime Use"! Been there, did that. If your computer goes down, "Lifetime Use" meets with an early death and cannot rise up like Lazarus without throwing ANOTHER $30 to Video Download Helper.
This time, lifetime was only three weeks.
That said, the add on is really good. But, lifetime should mean lifetime. - Rated 3 out of 5by dimm, 4 months agoГарний був застосунок, але перестав працювати в оновленні Firefox 143.0.1 для Ubuntu
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19496679, 4 months agotill version 9 it was fantastic. with 10, it s a lot of work to rename, move files as it is not possible to directly download to your folder of choice, only to the browser 's download setting. discovery of videos is still good, therefore the 3 stars from the previous 5. then.. it is free, i am not complaining, just outline the new missing features that from awesome makes it average. thank you anyway
