it's a totally useless extension, can't download at all, always ask to install an external companion app.

Hey, it works and helped me download a lot of content. If there is any issue - it is that it can slow down your computer on older machines. May not be a problem for newer multi-core computers. Mine is an old Intel core I3 laptop, and I get by just fine with Video DownloadHelper.

One of my favorite Add-Ons. It works to download almost all videos from almost all sites. Only a select few sites don't work. It can happen that a download stops with a broken file, but just redownloading usually fixes that for me, so it's not a big deal. Has helped me a lot in downloading videos that i would have otherwise had to search for for a long time.And it's free with no hidden costs or premium bullshit like many other Add-Ons do. There is no reason not to have this.

Extremely versatile, works in a lot of cirucmstances, very few situations where it does not work. Only downsides are that it can make heavy use of your RAM, particularly when downloading large files, and that when a download fails it doesn't have an in-add-on option to retry the download; in some circumstances I've found the download can be restarted using firefox's own download UI. Haven't needed to use other video downloading tools since I installed it - if this can't do it, I doubt anything can.
