- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13546085, 8 years agoUsing this on a Windows 10 Dell Laptop. Downloaded a streaming video webcast, there was a break in the middle, but it also happened on another machine using a different process so it was probably the website that was doing the streaming. No issues, it worked fine, and as far as I was concerned was worth the $28.50. Programmers have to make a living too.

It takes long time.
You have to pay 28$ to remove watermark.
One word: shit.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13543655, 8 years agoI am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 - for the following reasons, right now, it is the ONLY youtube downloader that will save in high resolutions, such as 1080p and even higher - and it does a good job, however, it loses a star for the following three reasons - 1. a successful high resolution download now requires an additional program (called a companion app) to be downloaded and installed for a conversion to be done, though this is likely not the fault of the developer, probably the only way around youtube's latest copy protection scheme, and this executable appears to be safe and is open source. 2. the conversion can take a while (as in an hour or more). 3. You end with a high resolution download, at the full quality of the original, but it has this stupid QR code watermark in the top left corner to kind of force you to contribute, in order to get rid of it. - The required contribution is US$28.50, but at least it is just a one time fee, and likely a good deal considering that this is the only game in town at present.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13541996, 8 years agoI loved it, now I hate it. It just does not work. Companion app? I hope you are joking.

am reverting to FF56 after much aggravating time spent trying to come to terms w/FF57 and have come to the conclusion that it truly sucks, yet another sad bellwether that mozilla has jumped the shark. this app was the last straw in that decision, 7.0.0 is revlocked to FF57, none of the previous versions will work on 57. fortunately the previous versions will work just fine on FF56. for how long is anyone's guess but that at least gives me some time to find a workaround.
LAUGHABLE. was previously a very reliable and turnkey app that left me with warm fuzzies towards the developers. you people truly, wondrously screwed the pooch. if only I could give it no stars. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13541995, 8 years agoUse to be able to record livestreams with this add-on. I can still record using the companion app which is a seperate download but for some reason with the firefox v57 quantum update you removed the STOP button which normally would save the recording as is when you hit it. Why was this done? Now I can no longer stop a live stream recording and save the video. If I exit browser during a live stream it results in a file that cannot be played. Can you please add the STOP button back to the live stream recording companion app?

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13541015, 8 years agoWar einmal sehr gut. Jetzt funktioniert es nicht mehr richtig und braucht ein zusätzlich Tool, das sich nicht erklärt.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13187081, 8 years agoThis was my experience a few hours ago: I am giving this 2 stars because it used to be a great app. However since FF57 there have been nothing but problems. This morning I was told to load the latest Companion App (version 1.0.8) which I did, and now nothing works. It either flashes the Save-As screen and disappears, or it brings up the top part of the Download the Companion App screen again but does not display the rest of it and goes no further.
Since then, I have deleted VDH and its Companion App, rebooted my machine (Windows 64bit) and re-installed both. Even though the version numbers and file sizes are the same as before, now it is working about 60% of the time. I often have to try it several times, and use the options that appear to the right of the simple download. So perhaps back up to 3 stars.
