I'm well aware of version 7 not yet working properly on FireFox 57. That is not the problem here. I have version 6.3.3 installed on FireFox 56. Updates are switched completely off. It worked fine until the middle of the night a few days ago. It finished the current download, then suddenly disappeared and the animated icon will not come back regardless of any setting. It has simply ceased to function, and not coincident to any "quantum" related update/upgrade, or any update/upgrade at all whatsoever. It has become painfully obvious that you are connecting to the program behind our backs in a manner you have not previously disclosed. There's no valid reason for it to suddenly stop working when no updates/upgrades have even occurred.... Killswitch much? Of course you do.

Version 6 was great. No problems. It just did what it was advertised to do. Version 7? A piece of shit. Click on the icon and the video screen grabs are gone! You have no idea of what video is which. I guess I will be looking for another down loader. Again a piece of shit. This review will never see the light of day but I call 'em as I see them. Somebody will read it.

This new "improvement" doesn't work at all. Tried downloading the helper program, doesn't work either. Everything downloads with 0 bytes. I noticed that there is some kind of plan where another more workable version is coming. Why give us this when you know it's defective and already needing a fix? Anybody know another downloader that works?

I used to use this extension sometimes and it seemed pretty good. After the "quantum" change in Firefox it did not work. It popped up a message about a "helper app" and i remember it did have something like that which was also required - I think maybe just telling it what converter - like ffmpeg - to use.
Now it points you outside Firefox and Mozilla to a 3rd - 4th? - party site to download an 'installer.' Then you are supposed to install it in your machine.
If you try that through the UBUNTU Software installer you get a lot of warnings about some really bad stuff. This reminds me of what Sony did with the rootkit they foist on unsuspecting users as "a little helper program."
I don't know what that app might or might not do, but it seems risky.

Estive procurando muito por um plugin que me ajudasse no dia a dia para efetuar alguns downloads que por muitas vezes era impossivel, com o DownloadHelper so tenho alegria e cada dia as atualizacoes vem melhorando. Nao percam tempo e baixem, vale muito a pena.

Been using this downloader for awhile. Still downloads fine. BUT,..... NOW YOU CANNOT SET A SPECIFIC FOLDER TO SAVE YOUR FILES ON.
Cannot detect stream files on openload or streamload

i've been using this extension without ever a problem for more than 6months now. Not even when each time mozilla firefox been updated to the latest versions. awesome job!
