Update 2024: UI has now improved a lot and it is easy to navigate to the folder where the video is downloaded. If it could also immediately select the downloaded file in the explorer window (which a lot of other programs do), that would make it even better. From 3 to 4 stars - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14179079, 4 years agoThis is a really useful extension add-on that everyone should have in their tools. I just downloaded my 100th video using the extension, and can only bring to mind 2 instances when I was unable to use it to download a video I desired... That is a very good ratio of successes to fails in my book, and I'm something of an expert on the subject. I've always preferred to have a physical copy of anything important or informative, because I learned early on that things on the internet tend to disappear without warning; For years (decades?) I've bought nearly every software that claimed to help me download information, videos and web pages from "any" website... But there were always certain sites that couldn't be downloaded from, and I would buy the next supposedly superior downloading program, and meet with disappointment yet again.
Video DownloadHelper changed all of that, and even better, it did so without eating a generous portion of my bank account . I found it by accident when reviewing other similar software; It has only been on my browser for a bit less than 8 months and I already feel as if I wouldn't be able to function as effectively or efficiently without it. I can go to nearly any web page or hosting site, and with a very few clicks, rapidly and safely download even very large files in a very short time. I am offered the option to choose whether to download the target in its native file format, or to download the file and convert it to another format that would be more convenient for me. I can choose the approximate size by choosing the download quality, and on the rare occasions when I need to do so, I can perform more than one download at a time ( my record so far is 3 concurrently). The videos are much higher in quality than I expected when first using the extension, and I have never yet had a crash occur due to the extension. I've used Video DownloadHelper for so many different types of files: twitter videos, FB videos, Bitchute, youtube, bannedVideos, and it even downloads streams! The extension is very easy to learn to operate, and very conveniently accessible either from the address bar or by a single right mouse click.
If you have any need for a video downloader program, even only rarely, then you should add the Video DownloadHelper extension and see how powerful and convenient it is. You're welcome! - Rated 4 out of 5by Lena, 4 years agoFor some reason it doesn't always download full video from YouTube, but in other cases it's awesome

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13571539, 4 years agoI'm pretty satisfied with this extension; so far trouble-free and substantially better than the kind of spotty alternatives.
Kind of bothered, though, how it handles "streaming downloads" of video files differently from "regular downloads". It'd be nice if both methods consistently used FF's download display button list, so you can see all the files you've downloaded at once, in the same place. - Rated 4 out of 5by Bruce, 4 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Campanile, 4 years agoAs others have stated, the user experience is what you always get when a techie tries to also set up the UI. It's not the worst, but it is horribly obscure.
It uses a number of terms that seem to exist only in the coder's head. It takes a while to figure out where the videos get saved to, and how that awful thing with the three colored balls works, but after a while you get it.
Once you do, it works well. - Rated 4 out of 5by Blacky, 4 years ago
