To get this add-on to work properly you have to install a companion application called 'VdhCoApp', but for some reason the developers fail to give you this information? When Video DownloadHelper updates, it will redirect you to another tab which says: "Congratulations, you just upgraded to Video DownloadHelper ... ". Watching something interesting or maybe you're in the middle of something important, well Video DownloadHelper doesn't care - you WILL be redirected! Honestly, who the hell thought that was a good idea, it's like having a virus on your machine! I tried the convert option, it took so long to do the conversion I thought it hadn't worked and there's absolutely no feedback whatsoever while processing the file. Overall, the UI is not very intuitive. Also, if you chose an ADP variant and the conversion feature has not been registered the resulting video contains a QR barcode watermark in the top left corner. There are better options out there which don't need a companion application, give you conversion options up front, and don't insert a watermark in your videos. Uninstalled.

I almost gave it 4 stars because it occasionally can't download a particular video. But heck, nothing is perfect, so 5 stars for all the hassle it has saved me-- no more hunting through source code, or de-obfuscating links to videos. And I appreciate the choice of formats. Smooth and seamless-- good job, guys.
(Edit: it's now been working for me for more than two years, which means the developer is staying on top of Firefox updates. A solid five stars still.)

It IS really good and "worth the price":
I do have more and more problems with different sources and I have no idea where the problems are.
Often, VDH seems not to be working, but it is possibly working in the background. I even get error messages, but if I wait I might just find that it did work. Problem with that is, I get no information, and if I close FF or shut down I might be killing several downloads in progress. But, like right now, if I sit here and wait for the 2 remaining downloads to finish, I might find that these 2 really had errors. I blame most of this on Mozilla.....

Very helpful to download videos online from youtube and other sites. Easy to use. Could get better indicating download speed among other things, specially incomplete downloads (in case of loss internet connectivity) which need to be redownloaded from scratch which is very annoying.

So far one of the best download add-on you can find and will never regret using it. It fast and easy to use.

Once I finally figured out how to download mp3's from the videos, I started using the addon again. I don't like the ADP 'feature", as it takes literally hours to convert the video. I use another program when I want to download mp4 video, because this one just doesn't do it. Give me back the old VideoDownloadHelper because it was way better than this version.

Amazing addon. I use it in order to download tutorials and funny videos. The best addon.

Dans la ville où j'habite, le flux de connexion internet est faible (ruptures de flux). Le seul moyen de regarder une vidéo correctement est de la télécharger au préalable pour pouvoir par la suite la visionner sans problème.
Video DownloadHelper permet d'enregistrer la majeure partie des productions vidéos (streaming). Ceci me sauve la vie... Sur le plan des loisirs bien sûr :-) ! Très facile à utiliser, intuitif et efficace. Merci à vous, Mig, d'avoir développé ce merveilleux module!
